The location was great and incredible, at a medium distance from a large urban plaza. It was located in a very quite area not far from the main squares Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Espana & Plaza Mayor as well as bars, cafes.

Equal parts excellent and disappointing
The location was fantastic! Close to shops, I loved the nightly room cleaning service-returning to a fresh space after exploring was good.
Inconsistent reception hours were frustrating at times, making check-in and assistance somewhat problematic.

The final verdict on this
Located in a youthful neighborhood, this spot is ideal for exploring Madrid on foot. My room was cozy with a mini fridge and clean daily service. The added security. Value for money is unbeatable here! A must for budget travelers!

Location and size of the apartment is very good. Staff is helpful.
Cleanliness left a lot to be desired - leftover food in sink from previous tenants, dirty floor, paper in cupboards from previous tenants, towels full of hair and stained. Very noisy and no window to the outside world in the apartment; too expensive for these shortcomings.

I had a great time with a comfortable bed and a large shower, but the ceiling fan couldn’t cool the room as expected during my 2-night stay. I would return!

There are so many things I loved about Gay Hostal Pizarro, but of course, "Chema" has been by far the best guest in the world!! I was literally exhausted after a week party in Ibiza, but he got me with his beautiful smile, kindness and charming personality to provide me a clean and silent room to be able to sleep 24 hours in a row... Hostal location is just within a 5 minute walk to either Gran Via or Callao Metro Stations and shopping atractions. Rooms aren't huge, but what else may you need if you're going to party and shop in Madrid? The bathroom was perfectly clean and white as all room and hostal decoration concept says. I loved the beautiful rainbow cristals by the door that connects lobby with the private rooms area. Tourist information that Chema and the other guy who works at the Reception in the afternoons (I'm sorry I don't remember his name) was always correct and helpful, they really know what's the best place to have great "spanish tapas" for dinner, or what sauna to visit for "relaxing"...
I hate not to be able to spend more nights at this place!! Hey Guys: I hope to be able to visit you once again during 2012 Madrid Pride!

Quiet street in the centre of Madrid. Highly recommended.

I was shocked by the tiny shower that gave the feeling of a coffin, not to mention the cleaning crew barged in twice, despite my sign. Honestly, I expected some sort of service recovery, perhaps a complimentary upgrade after all that chaos. If I weren't so annoyed, I might've almost given a good review.

The location is unbeatable, in the very heart of Madrid. The hotel is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. Great for shopping and going out.The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are exeptionally clean and comfortable. It was my 2nd stay at the Pizarro and I'll be definitely returning there again!

The best deal in town for the price! We were in Madrid to sightsee and the location was perfect, a five minute walk to the Metro. The hotel was clean, spacious, and informative staff.
This hotel does not have AC....that said, we stayed in June and it was still comfortable. We opened the window and ran the ceiling fan. Although, this same room would probably be very hot in July and August. Also the hotel was a " little noisy" with street noise and the sound of running water from upstairs, therefore I never travel without my earplugs.
